Higher Education Award Program

Last year the Session of Southminster approved a PILOT Higher Education Award Program that was quite successful. We were able to provide one of our youth members with $1000 to show our support of his goal to attend college. The program will continue this year. Our goal is to provide a one-time monetary award to each qualified student to be funded through donations from the congregation. Donations will be collected through May so that an award can be presented in June to any students who qualify. Please place your donation in one of the special envelopes found in the box in the Narthex and place it in the offering plate during Worship. Checks should be payable to Southminster Presbyterian Church. Please be sure to indicate on your check or envelope that the donation is for the HIGHER EDUCATION AWARD so that the funds will be properly credited to that account.

We thank you for your continued support of this important program!

Special Announcement:
Southminster Higher Education Award Program

A Worshiping Community
Our life together is centered in praise and Worship.  In worship, we thank God for our many blessings and open ourselves to God’s leading.  Our services are joyful occasions in which we delve into the Scriptures’ meaning for our daily lives.  The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the second Sunday of each month.  Everyone is invited to participate.

A Learning Community
We value our Reformed Heritage, which means we value Christian Education.  Church School is held during the worship hour for our children.  Outside worship, we offer a Joy Circle, Bible Study, Christian Crafters and discussion groups to gain greater understanding of the Scriptures and issues affecting our families and communities.

A Caring Community
We take our calling to be the family of God seriously.  We are close enough for each person  to be an important part of the family.  During each worship service we share our joys and concerns.  Visits, phone calls, and prayers help to keep us united in Christ’s love.

A Diverse Community
We celebrate the variety of gifts with which we have been blessed by the Holy Spirit.  We value our racial, ethnic and cultural diversity and welcome people of all ages, races, and theological perspectives.  The unity we have in our Lord Jesus Christ is greater than any power to divide us.  Our fellowship times each Sunday helps us to enjoy each other’s uniqueness as we grow closer in Christlikeness.
