Welcome

Prelude

Sharing the Peace of Christ
Leader: The Peace of Christ be with you.
People: And also with you.

Introit                               “Be Not Afraid”                                     Jacques Berthier

THE GATHERING OF GOD’S PEOPLE

Call to Worship                                                                                       Psalm 104
Leader: Bless the Lord, O my Soul.
People: O Lord my God, you are very great.
Leader: You are clothed with honor and majesty.
People: You stretch out the heavens like a tent; you set the beams of your chambers on the waters, you make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills, giving drink to every wild animal that quenches its thirst.
Leader: You cause the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants to use, to bring forth food from the earth, and bread to strengthen the human heart.

Hymn of Praise                “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less”                   pg. 353

Call to Confession

Leader: Trusting the grace promised to us in Jesus Christ, let us confess our sins before God and one another.

Silent Confession

Prayer of Confession (unison)                                                                 Joshua 5: 5-7

Merciful God, we confess that we have strayed from your ways. We have seized our independence, forgetting your provision. You gave us the earth for our home, but we squander earth’s resources and hoard its bounty. You gave us neighbors to love, but we pursue selfish ambitions. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness                                                                           Joshua 5: 9

Leader: Sisters and brothers, your disgrace has been rolled away, like the stone from Christ’s tomb. God offers forgiveness of our sins and the grace of repentance. Accept God’s grace, repent of your sin, and be restored to abundant life.
