Welcome and Sharing the Peace of God
THE GATHERING OF GOD'S PEOPLE
Prelude "Antiphon III" Dupre'
*Call to Worship Psalm 85
Leader: Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; justice and peace will kiss each other.
People: Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky
Leader: God will give what is good, and the land will yield its increase.
People: Righteousness will go before the Lord, and will make a path for our God's steps.
*Hymn of Praise
"Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty" 482
Call to Confession
Leader: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
People: The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Leader: Let us with confidence approach God confessing our sins silently and then together.
Personal Confession (silent)
Prayer of Confession (Unison)
God of steadfast love, you call us to serve and love you alone; yet we go our own way. We rely upon our strength, and forget to turn to you. We do not ask for what we need. We too often consider our selfish wants, and do everything in our power to get them. Forgive us for adding to the pain of injustice in the world, and the pain that not relying on God brings us. Help us to live lives of day to day devotion, seeking only your will. In the name of Jesus our Lord and teacher. Amen.
*Those who are able, please stand
Assurance of Forgiveness Psalm 32
Leader: "Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart, for steadfast love surrounds those who trust in God." Believe the good news of the gospel, in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
